Carley Ellen's Feeling Froggy Dress

Here she is in her new frog dress that was in the works for 2 years. I decided I had to get it done before she did not get to wear it at all. All I cna say is too cute on a beautiful girl!
The frog in the center of the dress has a hula skirt on and there is a palm tree on either side. I do have to say picture smocking gets the best of me so---a friend finished it up for me.

Happy Birthday Jannah Grace

Happy Birthday to our sweet Jannah Grace! She is 7 years old now and growing up way too fast. Her Gampa thought she said she was seventeen not 7. Maybe she acts like she is 17!

Archer's Easter

Here are my precious grandchildren in their Easter frocks. They all looked like we worked hard on coordinating their clothes but surprisingly it just worked out!

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

Here is Jordan on his 5th birthday. He was one happy little boy. Jimmy and I got him a Georgia Bulldog football uniform. I did not know as he said "this is what I have been wanting". Was so glad that he was as excited as he was over this. I can't wait to see him in a few days to see him sporting it. We do love our Jordan!

Black and White

Here are  blocks 1,2 and 3 of a year long block of the month that I am participating in. There is a quilt shop in Moultrie and my friend Patty and I go there the 2nd Saturday of every month to get our next block. If we return  with a completed blcok  we get the next months at no charge. Good way to get a quilt top completed. It also helps me to know that I have to get it done by a certain time. As in the night before or maybe in some cases a week before the meeting. We have to head out around 8:15 in order to beat the crowd and be in the first class. It is always good to look and shop!!

Africa Mission Trip

All excited and a little nervous about a medical mission trip to Nairobi, Africa. As Jimmy and I are watching the news early AM we see about the volcano errupting in Iceland. I get the globe down and I think- wonder if that could effect our landing in Amsterdam? Plan was to leave Atlanta on April 15th and return the 24th. We all meet at Dr. Eane's office (the opthamologist that arranged the trip) get all baggage weighed and loaded. After a little exchange of conversation it is time to pray and hit the road. We arrived in Atlanta and ate our "last meal" at Olive Garden. Rahcel and I are drinking our tea because we knew that it was probally our  last glass util returning. We get to the airport  the sky hops take our luggage, bring us to the ticket counter and they are starting to assign seats.  Robbie D. being the first and then----all flights to Europe are canceled! So, needless to say we are standing and waiting for 4 hours I might add to see if they could reroute us. They could but we would leave Atlanta on Sunday evening arrive in Nairobi early tuesday morning and start clinic. I thought to myself whew that would be tuff, but I am part of the team that I believe God has ordained for this trip. So, I will do what Dr. Mark felt led to do. As it turns out he decided after talking to the missionary (Steve) that was working with the pastor of the church there to cancel and maybe try to reschedule in November or December. so, al the great pictures I was going to take will have to wait along with the possibility of a Safari. I was disappointed but also know that God was in control and this all happened for a reason. May never know why but know that God has a plan. I will be ready to go if in fact it does get rescheduled for a later date or maybe another mission trip if it is in God's plan for me.

Purses and Bags

This is my travel purse that I made out of Vera Bradley fabric.  I purchased it in Korea (or maybe Shara sent it to me) can't remember. I decided to make this for my up and coming trip to Africa on a medical mission trip in April. Can't wait to use it!

Drake Fisher Archer

Easter John John for baby Drake. It is so hard to believe that  Baby Drake is now almost 1 1/2.  My how time is flying. I am excited to make this new pattern. It is hard to find fabric to make a BOY looking outfit but I think this will be good with all the boy color dots in it.

Here it is going thru the pleater. this is the small smocked inset that you see on the pattern and I will smock it all in the dark brown dot. He will sure be a cutie in it!

Fluer Di Lis

This is the sneak peak for Jannah and Carley that is now complete. I just loved the idea that I found blog hopping. I had to get it made so I could see for myself how cute this would be for my girlies! I plan to make a skirt to match so hang on..

Sunday, March 7, 2010

I am finally done with the 22 quilt blocks for  a block exchange with 21 other ladies in the guild. You just don't know how glad I am to be done with these so I can move on to some else. I must say this is probally record time for me to complete this many blocks with as many other projects as I have going on. It will be fun in April to see the variety.

Here is a sneak peek at a new project for Jannah and Carley! More to come tomorrow.

GRAND BAY

Jimmy and I went out for a walk at Grand Bay and this is what was sunbathing as well as
which would be a snake.
Jimmy thought it was a mocccasin. We decided to leave him alone and let him get all the sun he wanted!
This is just the typical winter look on the swamp.

Block Exchange

This is where I am with a block exchange with my Quilt Guild. I am in the process of making 22 blocks. There are 22 people doing the exchange so the idea is to get 21 different blocks to have a quilt top and you had to only make one pattern. What was I thinking? Anyway it will be a good exchange as everybody was given a differnet pattern and the yellowish marble fabric. We had to chose the coordinate fabrics. My block is called Sarah's Choice. Certainally not my choice!!! Too many points to match up. I have until April 12th to get them completed. My goal is to be done before the night before! It will be fun to see what everybody else has done.

Carely and Sophie Carley Archer

Here is Carley Ellen in her Birthday/Easter dress. She was so pretty in it and didn't know that she was about to get her look alike doll even though she was guessing what may be in the box and that was one thing she said.
Carley was so excited when she finally got the present open. She was so sweet and just hugged her new doll and looked at her.
I was rocking Carley and had to rock Sophie to sleep too!

Carley

This is a dress I smocked for Lori around 1989 and she wore it for Easter. I love to see heirloom dresses passed down to the next generation. Carley looks alot like her Mama in this. We are on our way to see this sweet girl for her big reveal birthday present along with her
little brother Drake and

big sister Liz whom also had a birthday in February.

Jannah Grace

Here is the beginning of Jannah Grace's Easter dress for this year. She is getting so big I am not sure how many more I will get to make for her in this particular style. I will smock it in the light blue color that is in the roses and the background is what I would call Kiwi green.

I have started smocking and it will be pretty. I am thinking blue may be the color used the most and work in white and green. Maybe a doll dress to match later? Could be ties for the boys too.

From My Kithchen

I baked some Chocolate Cranberry Macadamia Nut Biscotti for Jimmy as well as some other special people to me for Valentine's Day! It sure was delicious with some coffee and looks pretty too. I will have some for my Southern Living Party I am hosting Thrusday night for my guests to enjoy.

Sewing Room

Here is an antique sign that Jimmy got for me to hang in my sewing room. My favorite part is Dressmaking because I sure don't like to do alterations at all. I would rather start from scratch than try to alter something.
And I am not sure about Coats Remodeled. Must be something they used to do back then!

Scarves

Here are some of the new scarves I have knitted and on the right is one that I am making for my friend Marcia Dixon. She saw one of my scarves at church and said she would like to have one so I am glad to make her one after all her help when our home flooded last year.

Max

Max is my helper when I am knitting. He likes to help me with my yarn in ways that is not always good. I looked yesterday and he had several remant skeins all pulled out playing with them. I don't really need that kind of help! He is also good for dragging rattle snakes to the back door. We thought the snake was dead so Jimmy put IT in a bag and took it  to the shop.  When he was showing it to someone IT had come back to life. IT was just too cold and not real lively when we thought it was dead. Jimmy said it was trying to strike so they killed it. That makes about 5 we have killed in the past year.

Almost Complete

Almost done with the birthday girl and the doll dress. Have to have a matching bow per Carley so she and the doll will have one.  I will be waiting for the look on her face when she opens this. Will happen on 2/21/10 in St Augustine.
